In the last nine years, the concept of an app has grown from a “what’s that,” to millions of offerings on the App Store and for Android users via Google Play. Thousands of companies, large and small – as well as many individuals – have created everything from games with dropping fruits and candies, to photo editing and a myriad of medical support products. “Mobile applications have become much more sophisticated and the excitement of what we build, and how we can meet the requests of our clients escalates with every project,” said Eric Silverthorn, founder and President of Semaphore Mobile, a Dallas-area based mobile application company. “People are using the sensors in their phones for geo location, payments, and so much more, and there is a consistent influx of new phones, tablets, and accessories that we can provide for. The industry changes daily and we’re proud to keep up – and ahead of – the market.”
There were 500 apps available on the App Store in its premiere summer, today that number is over 1.5 million, and for Android users there are another million. That’s a lot of competition, a lot of dreams that post and fulfill, and a lot of pieces and companies that come – and go – in a blink.
“You can’t leave an app alone – the constant iteration in the life of an app – whether it is meant for the public market or as an internal productivity tool – or if it can be used for both is something we work with all the time,” said Silverthorn.
Semaphore Mobile, formed before the term “app” was even coined, has created close to 400 products for the App Store and nearly 300 for Android users. Be it an application to promote health care, entertainment, E-commerce, or to be used as browser applications, mobile network monitoring tools, points of interest GPS/triangulation location, GSM remote command and control of industrial equipment, and security software message encryption, Semaphore has been at the forefront of the market – the companies team, and methodology, intact in creating productivity tools, training, inventory, procurement, brand extension support and the Internet of Things – for both internal use as well as for the broader public market.
The company’s Server Development Dallas’ services include API development for mobile applications or for connecting to other backend services, custom website development and content management systems, and custom server-side development including the Internet of Things. “At Semaphore Mobile, we’ve adjusted our business as tech has changed and as the needs of our clients has changed. Our breath of experience allows our clients to believe in us,” said Silverthorn. “With 12 Apps up the day the Apple Store opened, and hundreds built since, we’re still here a decade later, doing our best work.”
